Stevenson is only 15 minutes west of the historic city centre.

Stevenson's Faculty of Languages is committed to quality. We have an experienced, professional and enthusiastic staff, delivering a wide range of courses, with progression routes to further and higher education courses both within the College and at universities throughout the UK. As a year-round English language provider, we have been welcoming international students for over 30 years.

Courses

ELT programmes include:

• General English (start: September, January; April)
• Business English (start: September, January; April)
• Academic English (start: August, January)
• Summer school (start: July / August)
• In-service Teacher Training incl. ICELT (start: flexible)

We also offer the opportunity to combine studying English with other academic or vocational courses run by the College.

General English and Business English: full-time courses of 18 hours per week; 9, 12, 15 or 36 week courses; maximum 18 students in a class. Academic English: full-time courses of 18 hours per week; 18 or 36 week courses; maximum 18 students in a class. Summer school courses of 15, 21 and 27 hours per week; 2, 4 or 6 weeks in July and August; maximum 12 students in a class. Individually designed Teacher Trainer professional development courses (including ICELT) can be arranged for groups: flexible course duration. Tailored English courses for groups are available throughout the year.

Accreditation

We are accredited by the British Council as a member of English UK, and a member of SELTIC (Scottish English Language Teaching in Consortium).

Facilities

The modern facilities at Stevenson include a language laboratory, multimedia self-access centre, library and study centre. The self-access centre has a computer-aided language learning suite and a range of audio and video materials to help you further practise your language skills; free email facilities also available. There is an optional social programme with events and excursions, eg. visits to local places of interest, sports activities and parties. We want you to feel welcome in Edinburgh and to participate in the lively College community.

Accommodation

Stevenson can arrange 'homestay' accommodation for you before you arrive. Most of the accommodation is on the west side of Edinburgh, near the College, and is carefully selected and inspected. Homestay is an ideal way to improve your English. Alternatively, you may wish to rent your own apartment or flat. If you are interested in a summer course we can help you find accommodation for this period too.
