South Leicestershire College is a government funded further education college which is accredited by the British Council and also inspected by Ofsted. We have been delivering EFL courses to international students for almost 30 years. We offer full-time courses in EFL, including preparation for KET, PET, FCE, CAE, Skills for Life and IELTS. We are an open centre for Cambridge Main Suite Examinations and we run Main Suite and Skills for Life exams three times a year. From September 2012 we will also be offering IELTS preparation courses. The majority of our teachers are either DELTA or MA qualified. We also offer the CELTA and CELTA online courses.
Our EFL classes are split by ability level and we generally have classes running at most levels from Elementary (Entry 1) to Advanced (Level 2). The maximum class size is 18, and classes are culturally very mixed, with students from Middle Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and the Far East.
We moved to a modern, purpose-built building in September 2010, with excellent facilities, including language laboratories, a well-equipped gym, and a library with free internet access, study zones with free internet access and a cafe. As well as our English Language courses, we also offer a broad range of free enrichment activities such as sports, gym sessions, book club and cooking club. We also arrange trips to local places of interest and nearby cities such as Lincoln and Leamington Spa.
We are located in South Wigston, close to the multi-cultural city of Leicester. Buses and trains travel regularly between South Wigston and the city centre. Leicester is located in central England with good rail and road access throughout the country. London is just over one hour by train and Birmingham, Oxford and Cambridge are also easily accessible with regular coaches and trains from Leicester.
Homestay accommodation can be arranged within easy walking distance of the College, most within South Wigston.
