2020 is a very special year for us as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Summer Seminar and we look forward to welcoming English language teachers from across the globe to Oxford from 26 July to 08 August or from 09 -22 August for an unforgettable professional development experience in one of the University's most beautiful colleges.
The Summer Seminar has been designed for teachers of English as a Second Language who either teach secondary school pupils or adult learners and is delivered by a team of highly experienced international trainers, the Seminar aims to give you an exhilarating and enriching experience.
In a series of highly practical workshops, you'll collaborate with teachers from many different countries so the programme is also an exercise in community building and international understanding. You'll live in Worcester College and take classes at the University’s Said Business School.
The Seminar provides 42 hours of tuition, comprising 20 workshops, 5 lectures and 3 seminars.

Please note that as the workshop sessions incorporate a large amount of interaction and participation with colleagues, all teachers are invited to contribute proactively to group discussions.
After class you can relax in over 24 acres of tranquil gardens and wooded grounds, sit by the college’s own lake far from the bustle of the busy city streets beyond Worcester’s high walls or explore one of Britain’s most beautiful cities. Each evening, a rich and varied social programme will help you to make the most of your time in Oxford.
We have carefully tailored your social programme to allow you plenty of free time to explore and enjoy Oxford. You will also benefit from the services of two programme assistants who will be on hand to offer information as to what’s on and what to see in Oxford. We have arranged a number of optional social activities (all at no extra cost) during your course which are likely to include the following:
We invite all participants to join us for an opening drinks reception and dinner on Sunday and for our formal farewell drinks reception and gala dinner on Friday .
Breakfast is served in college and you have a choice of a light continental-style breakfast in Worcester College Nash Café or a cooked breakfast in the college Dining Hall.
Tea, coffee and refreshments are served during the morning break.
A buffet lunch is served in the Said Business School Dining Hall. You can choose from a number of hot main course options or help yourself to the salad bar. After lunch you can enjoy a coffee on the roof terrace.
A two course dinner is served in the Dining Hall at Worcester College.
Applicants must have a minimum of four years' experience of teaching English as a foreign or second language to secondary school pupils, college or university students or adult learners.
Applicants should have a minimum level of proficiency in English equivalent to CEFR C1.
